If he is in a bluesy mood, W..Wender’s last “perfect days”, a zen lamentation, could be a good option. Might not work for a boy, but mature adults might like it.
let hims also try Wes Andersen. WA is an acquired taste, he creates his own worlds, with its own speech & behavioral patterns. much like Tarantino, or Scorsese - his style is unique and recognizable. Could start with “Budapest Hotel” or “The Royal Tenenbaums”.
